TAKE ACTION! TELL CONGRESS TO CRACK DOWN ON CORPORATE TAX DODGERS |
|
Important decisions will soon be made in Washington, and your representatives need to hear from you. First, the House and Senate are about to put the finishing touches on a giant tax cut for the wealthy in conference – in other words, behind closed doors. Though the bill itself is a ridiculous menagerie of deceptive sunset provisions and tax cuts targeted toward the very wealthy, there is a chance that three decent provisions currently included in the Senate version would crack down on some corporate tax avoidance. Please let your representatives know that you want these provisions included in the final version of the bill: 1) A provision to close the loophole that allows U.S. corporations to move their headquarters into an offshore tax haven. 2) A provision prevent Enron and other companies that overstated their earnings from getting tax refunds when they restate their earnings 3) A provision to strengthen the IRS’s ability to crack down on tax shelters, including many used by Enron.
