Drutman Addresses Commonwealth Club May 16th

Citizen Works Communications Director and co-author of The People's Business Lee Drutman will address the Commonwealth Club of California Monday, May 16th, at 6pm, on the subject of "Curtailing Corporate Power."

Lee Drutman

As noted on the Commonwealth Club website:

It is widely understood that large corporations are becoming increasingly important to commerce, both local and transnational. In the opinion of some, their increasing influence is causing immeasurable and, in many cases, irreversible damage to our economic and environmental health and well-being. Drutman will address what ordinary citizens can do to curtail corporate power, presenting recommendations from the members of the Citizen Works Commission on Corporate Reform, whose members include consumer activist Ralph Nader.

The event, with the co-sponsorship of Books Inc., Citizen Works, and the Media Alliance, will take place at the Commonwealth Club's Market Street Office (directions). Admission is free for members and fifteen dollars for non-members. Mr. Drutman will be making himself available to autograph copies of The People's Business

The People's Business, which is available in stores everywhere, examines the very nature of corporate power, presenting a range of strategies to curtail it, explaining how ordinary people can restore citizen control. Bringing together the recommendations of the Citizen Works Corporate Reform Commission — a coalition of leading authors, activists, scholars, and professionals — The People's Business is a vital, clearheaded plan for strengthening individual rights, transforming corporations into engines of public prosperity, and creating a sustainable, life-respecting society where the people have the power.

Bolstered with relevant history and examples, The People's Business is a lively book that will appeal both to deeply-committed long-time activists looking for a coherent approach in the struggle for corporate accountability as well as thoughtful citizens everywhere who may be looking for immediate measures that serve as effective means of corporate reform.
